Learn this traditional intaglio technique where drawing marks and textures are etched below the surface, and the drypoint technique is directly scratched to build burrs on the surface. These techniques create beautiful details and line qualities.


Make a Treasure Box

Build the amazing clamshell box, with a specially designed divided tray inside.   Materials and skills follow functional structure that can enhance an object for its presentation, preservation, viewing and meaning.   Bring a small object or special book to plan the box around, with a standard size for all.


Monoprinting Workshop

We will make one-of-a-kind prints from ink that is transferred from plates to paper with an inevitable surprise. Using a wide array of colors the water-base inks enable multiple layers and unusual mixing. Guidance and demos of techniques will spark ideas and sharing. All for experimentation and fun!


“One Day” Workshop – Journal-making

A hands-on workshop that begins with playful paper selections for signatures and folding, all joined together with sewing along the spine. A variety of decorative stitch options will be shown. This journal will have durable cloth covers and be suitable for take-a-long journaling and sketching.


“One Day” Workshop – Paper Marbling

For all levels

In this hands-on workshop we will make traditional and decorative papers with Turkish Marbling. This process is fast and fun with unique results.   Papers can be used for calligraphy, origami, small gift-wrapping, note-cards, bookbinding.   Expect the Unexpected!


Hand Papermaking Workshop

Make handmade paper of cotton, abaca, and with pulp painting.   Learn sheet forming skills for paper suitable for printmaking, letterpress, drawing, painting, bookmaking.   Were tennis shoes, and be prepared to be wet!

Hand Papermaking Workshop

In this workshop we will use cotton & abaca fibers, pulp painting, and “inclusions” for individual explorations and to make quality papers for drawing, bookbinding, painting.   Prepare to be wet!   Wear tennis shoes.   Come for 1 evening or both evenings.

“One Day” Workshop – Raised Cord Bookbinding

A beautiful, thick book with exposed stitching on the spine, with decorative hard covered boards.   We will use the sewing frames to sew signatures and wrap thread around the cord.   Supplies will be provided, although your own decorative marbled papers, handmade paper, unusual found papers could also be included in the signatures for embedded memories, or used on the covers.    For all levels.

“One Day Workshop”: Wood Engraving

This relief printing process carves on the end-grain of wood, for strongly graphic and detailed small size prints. We use burins and multi-tint tools to make lines, highlights and textures, and print onto good paper. These prints will make a fine gift!
