Placemaking for Wellbeing: A Community Conversation
November 6, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Why do people who love their community love where they live? How does our placemaking (festivals, farmers markets, parks, libraries, museums, recreational activities and venues, unplanned social interaction in public spaces, community planning, urban design, architecture, public art, the aesthetics of our public spaces, depictions of place in the visual and literary arts, etc.) affect our wellbeing? Can we increase the positive impact of our placemaking on our psychological and physical wellbeing?
An afternoon of community conversation and small group discussion.
Discussants:
Shane George, Philosophy of Placemaking
Nick Hernandez, Basics of Happiness Research and Placemaking
Maria Nazos, Poetics of Placemaking
Raul Palma, Storytelling for Placemaking
Venue: Constellation Studios | 2055 E. O St., Lincoln, NE 68510
Sunday, November 6, 2-4pm.
